not exactly phoenix rising

so, yeah.  after years of lying dormant, and years before that of being dedicated to my personal musical pursuits and assorted dirty laundry, i’ve decided to repurpose this site as a home for my professional exploits.  a few years back it became quite clear that my “professional” creative output was always going to eclipse my “recreational” one – both in terms of quality and widespread dissemination (it’s hard to do better than 1,000,000+ people hearing your music, even if only just for long enough to find the off button.  :) ).  “professional” in this case means the hobby i’ve turned into a career of writing music and doing sound design for video games, specifically the massively multiplayer online variety.  those suckers take a long time to make (two, three, or more years), and i’m typically only working on one at a time.  so when one finishes, it’s a Big Deal, and a bit of a watershed moment.

well kind of recently, one finished, at which time i left the studio i’d been at for eight years, signed on with a new one, and got busy with what i’ll be doing for the next two, three, or more years.  ya know, at the current rate of development, i’ve got about 10 more of these in me before i die, at best.  hm.

anyway, here we go.  almost nobody perused this site in its previous incarnations, and i see no reason for that to change.  :)  so i’ll be blathering freely from time, in a voice alternating between self-importance and self-deprecation, about the day-to-day happenings in this little “career” of mine.  and trying not to violate my NDA / look like a jackass in the process.  bets on which i do first?
